SIBU: SUPP Sibu yesterday disclosed that Land and Survey Department had approved land premium refunds to 149 applicants from Sibu and Kanowit.

Its branch head (Land and Development Bureau) Michael Ting said the refunds had been deposited into the accounts of 141 of them while the refund for six applicants was still in process. Two other applicants, whose applications were approved, had passed away, he said.

He urged them to check their bank accounts to ensure that they get the refunds.

“If the successful applicants still have doubt, they may contact me,” he said.

He appealed to family members of the two deceased landowners to complete the ‘Letter of Administration’ so that SUPP could proceed with the administration of the refunds.

“We are still waiting for the family members of the two successful applicants who have since passed away to complete the Letter of Administration so that we can deal with the administration of this matter soonest.”

Tiang also mentioned that landowners no longer needed to come up with the original receipts of their land premium payments as Land and Survey Department had deemed the requirement unnecessary.

He said the department would process the applications even if they could not come up with the original receipts, which was the previous practice, in order to lessen the landowners’ burden.

On the refund for commercial lots, Tiang said they would deal with the matter after completing the refunds for the residential sector.

“The next phase is to deal with the commercial sector and the owners would also get the refund in due course,” he added.
