LUCKY COUPLE: Johnny Hii Vui Lung and Yew Ling Ling register their marriage vows at 11.11am.

SIBU: A wedding is an important occasion that no married couple wants to forget.

OVER THE MOON: Lina and Leong Yee are too happy for words.

Nov 11 (11.11.11) is special not just because it resembles one’s love for one another, but is easy to remember.

Lina Ngo Yee Hsia and Ting Leong Yee, who have been dating for three years, said they started planning to get married on this special day a few months ago.

“The date is special because it is very easy to remember so there is no excuse to forget it,” Lina said.

They said they decided to pick the date when they got engaged “because an opportunity like this only comes every 100 years”.

She said the day was special because it represents eternity and love for one another.

The couple will have their wedding reception on Dec 3 (the number 123) at Kingwood Hotel here.

Meanwhile, the first couple to say ‘I do’ in front of the assistant registrar of marriage, Joseph Tang Chiod Sui, at Sibu Foochow Association premises yesterday were Tu Piek Fung and Hii Lu Ping.

Speaking to reporters after the registration, they said it was an easy date to remember.

“We have been together for about seven years and this day (marriage) has finally come, I cannot describe it, I am just so happy,” Hii said, wiping away a tear of joy.

The lucky couple, Johnny Hii Vui Lung and Yew Ling Ling took their vows at 11.11am yesterday.

Both aged 27 said they picked the date because it was rare.

“Six ones, I believe it is a good date and a very nice number. It is a date that I will remember forever and the day, I will remember it forever,” he said.

Yesterday’s wedding came as a birthday gift for two brides, Siew Lee Chen and Rosalind Tang See Hung.

Siew, who got married to Lu Ting Ping, said initially, they had wanted to have the wedding ceremony and reception on Thursday.

However, because all the restaurants were full they had to change it to yesterday.

“One thing special about this date is it is very easy to remember.

“Although some people may think it is special because it represents the couples’ true love, we think we have to work together as a couple to be true to one another,” Siew said.

For Rosalind, the date is special because it was her birthday too. Her spouse, Hii Shiann Hwai said apart from the registration, he had prepared a birthday gift for her.

“Today’s marriage registration is one of her birthday gifts, but I have another birthday gift for her tonight as well,” Hii said.

The couple said they chose the date after discussing with friends and families.

There were 34 couples who registered their marriages at Sibu Foochow Association premises yesterday.
