MIRI: Grand Palace Hotel raised over RM20,000 during its recent Open Day charity sale.

All of the money will go to an orphanage in Myanmar (through the Miri Gospel Church), Miri Gospel English Free Tuition, and Methodist Children’s Home.

The Open Day marked the hotel’s 16th anniversary.

“This Grand Palace Hotel Open Day is a good example of a charitable event for other companies from the private sector to follow in doing their part for the local community,” Miri mayor Lawrence Lai said during the launching.

The weekend event attracted some 500 visitors, who sampled food and beverages from the hotel’s restaurants between 8am and 2pm.

Hotel operations manager Leok Tsek Ming congratulated the  staff and thanked all sponsors and donors for their contributions.

He reminded staff “of their duty to cherish human life”, and that the event was a good platform “for building friendship bonds and goodness through cooperation and mutual respect”.
