A ‘must watch’ is the Chinese classical musical performance by talented musicians from Shangyin Musical Centre. Their show is from 7-8pm on Nov 19. This is held in furtherance of CEC’s endeavour to promote the learning of Chinese classical music and also serve as a platform to showcase the musical skills and techniques of members from the Shangyin Musical Centre.

The centre was established since 2000 and their main objectives are to promote Chinese traditional arts and improve the quality of Chinese traditional music in the state.

In order to captivate interest from the youths, Shangyin Musical Centre has hired professional music teachers to teach especially how to play the ‘Pi Pa’, a four string Chinese lute and ‘Gu Zheng’, a Chinese zither.

The music centre has organised since 2007 a number of music examinations among them the China Shanghai Music Institute Overseas Grade Exam. This examination is usually presided by professors of traditional music from China.

CEC 2011 will be graced by the Minister of Welfare, Women and Family Development Datuk Fatimah Abdullah.

Don’t miss out on the event. Get cultured and have fun at the same time!
