MIRI: It is imperative that quality education is accessible to all children to support and sustain the development of a nation.

In view of this, the Tenby Schools Group has extended its presence to East Malaysia with the recent establishment of Tenby International School (TIS) Miri in Sarawak in September, offering students here the opportunity to experience top notch international education.

Subsequently, TIS Miri is currently offering scholarships to high-performing secondary school students.

“At Tenby, we advocate equal educational prospects. It is our hope that these scholarships will open more doors and help equip promising students with the means to attain a brighter future,” said Robert Lloyd, director of Education for the Tenby Schools Group,

The opening of TIS Miri marked the first time that international education became available to both expatriates and Malaysians living here.

The school was set up as a result of collaboration between Sarawak Shell Berhad (SSB) and Tenby Schools Group, and offers the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) in the primary school and English National Curriculum in the secondary school.

“TIS Miri provides a challenging and high quality international curriculum that is taught entirely in English by highly-trained and experienced expatriate teachers,” said Lloyd.

The school presently offers classes in the early years and primary school as well as Years 7 and 8 (students aged 11 to 13) in the secondary school.

Currently operating from the former Piasau School, it is scheduled to move to a new purpose-built campus in Senadin in 2013.

“In keeping a pace ahead of current educational needs, our new campus will be equipped with modern teaching and learning facilities including a sports complex, auditorium, expressive arts centre and specialist laboratories for all our students, from early years up to the sixth form,” explained Lloyd.

TIS Miri is the latest school under the banner of the Tenby Schools Group, and is the first in East Malaysia.

The group comprises a rapidly expanding group of international and Malaysian private schools that also include campuses in
Ipoh (Perak), Penang and Setia Eco Park in Shah Alam (Selangor).

Secondary school students who are interested in applying for scholarships to study at TIS Miri are invited to contact the school at +60-85 491 526/+60-16 596 6387 or email [email protected] for further details.
