KANGAR: The Malaysian Islamic Chamber of Commerce (DPIM) is confident that the world market offers Muslim entrepreneurs in the country tremendous opportunities to export halal products.

Its secretary-general Mohammad Sahar Mat Din said as the world’s 1.7-billion Muslim population required halal products, Malaysian Muslim entrepreneurs should seize the opportunity to export as much halal products as possible and carve a name for themselves.

He called on entrepreneurs to take up the challenge by building a sustainable business network and help halal hubs flourish.

Speaking to reporters after the chamber’s annual general meeting (Perlis branch) here Saturday night, Mohammad Sahar said the halal hub being established in Padang Besar should benefit tremendously from its strategic location in the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle, as well as from the fact that the state was part of the Northern Corridor Economic Region.

He advised Muslim entrepreneurs in Perlis not to be just observers but also partake in the development happening right before their eyes. — Bernama
