SANDAKAN: An elderly man here was sentenced to four years in jail and four strokes of the cane by the Magistrate’s court yesterday for outraging the modesty of a six-year-old.
Johanes Mangu, 73, pleaded guilty before magistrate Mohd Zairi to a charge under Section 354 of the Penal Code.
According to the facts of the case, the accused grabbed the victim and took her into his room at a house in Kampung Muhibbah here before molesting her in full view of her brother.
Investigation revealed that the gynaecologist of Sandakan Duchess of Kent Hospital had confirmed that there was an old tear in the victim’s vagina as a result of finger penetration.
Meanwhile in a separate case, Mohd Zairi jailed a man for 20 months for stealing.
The accused, Liau See Onn, 52, pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 379 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to seven years or a fine or both upon conviction.
Investigation revealed that a recording from CCTV that was installed outside the victim’s house in Taman Indah, Mile 4, showed the accused had entered into the house’s compound by climbing the fence before stealing a few pairs of pants, shirts and shoes on October 22 around 4.30am.
