Yong: No rural community left out of devt

KUCHING: Deputy Works Minister Datuk Yong Khoon Seng assured that no community in rural areas would be left out of development projects like roads.

“The government is committed to link rural areas with good roads,” he said, citing Lawas as an example of a rural area that enjoy good road network.

Bringing development to all races was also in line with the 1Malaysia concept, he added.

Yong also cited the example ofTrusanBridgein Lawas that enabled the people to get connected to other areas.

“I believe that with better infrastructure, the Lun Bawang community in Lawas can easily mingle with other communities to enhance harmony and unity.”

Yong was speaking at a Kuching branch of the Lun Bawang Association of Sarawak (Lbas) gathering at a hotel here on Friday night. He announced a RM10,000 allocation for the association.

Among those present was Lawas MP Datuk Henry Sum Agong and Ba’ Kelalan assemblyman Baru Bian.
