Flood victims in Pekan allowed to return home

KUANTAN: All flood victims in Pekan have been allowed to return to their homes following floods ebbing in the district.

A spokesman at the Pahang flood operations room here said the 24 victims sheltered at Balai Raya Rumbia flood relief centre in Pekan had all been allowed to return to their homes.

“The number of flood victims sheltered at relief centres in Kuantan and Rompin still remain at 806 and 480 respectively.

“Ten relief centres have been opened in Kuantan with SMK Paya Besar sheltering 212 victims, Dewan Orang Ramai (DOR) Indera Mahkota Jaya (27) DOR Chenderawasih (68), DOR Seri Damai (114), SMK Gudang Rasau (20), SK Fakih Abu Samad (193), Pusat Bina Insan Jaya Gading (121), SMK Bukit Rangin (21), DOR PAKR Panching (four) and Balai raya Kampung Pahang (26).

“In Rompin, the SK Janglau relief centre is sheltering 226 people, Masjid Perepat (42), DOR Teluk Gading (203) and Balai raya Simpang Sepang (nine),” he said when contacted by Bernama here yesterday.

He reminded the people especially those living in low-lying areas to remain on alert as inclement weather was forecast over the next few days. — Bernama
