KUANTAN: Police have recovered 15 stolen motorcycle frames from five riverbeds in Felda Lepar Hilir 2 near here during an anti-motorcycle theft operation dubbed ‘Ops Lenjan’ last Saturday.

The seven-hour operation, which began at 10am, was mounted by Kuantan police, including its marine squad, led by Inspector Nayan Mokhtar.

Kuantan deputy police chief Supt Zulkifli Taha said police believed the discovery of the motorcycle frames would also solve several motorcycle-theft cases reported here over the past two years.

“The operation was mounted following the arrest of two suspects aged 17 and 18 believed to be involved in several of the motorcycle-theft cases here.

“We managed to detect the engine numbers of nine of the 15 motorcycles, while six other motorcycles had to be taken to Chemistry Department for analysis,” he told reporters here yesterday.

Meanwhile, he said 10 more suspects of motorcycle-theft cases were arrested here yesterday.

“All of the suspects, who are in their 20s, have been remanded to facilitate investigation under Section 379 A of the Penal Code,” he added. — Bernama
