The parade, with the theme ‘Peace in Christ’ hopes to spread the message of peace and the true meaning of Christmas among the people.

Methodist church, Baptist church and churches under Kuching Ministers’ Fellowship are sending contingents consisting of more than 4,000 persons to participate in the parade.

They will hold candles on one hand and sing Christmas carols to symbolise the angels proclaiming the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ more than 2,000 years ago. Among traditional hymns to be sung are ‘Silent Night’, ‘Joy to the World’, ‘Hark! The Herald Angels Sing’, ‘O Come, All Ye Faithful’ and ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas’.

Colourful Christmas floats depicting The Angels, Peace, The Nativity Scene and Noah’s Ark will accompany the carollers. The brass bands of the Boy and Girl Brigades, meanwhile, will present their kind of music while members of the public will get a chance to get specially made balloons from members of the parade.

All participants are advised to assemble at the Jubilee Ground in Padungan at 6.30pm. The parade will start at 7.30pm.
