LAHAD DATU: A Filipino was found stabbed to death in a quarters at Felda Sahabat 7, Jalan Tungku here on Wednesday night after they allegedly tried to rape the assailant’s wife.
The body of the victim, who was only identified as Edwin, 47, was found in the quarters at about 10pm.
Another man, said to be also involved in the incident, was admitted to the Lahad Datu Hospital with serious stab wounds in the abdomen.
District police chief Superintendent Shamsudin Mat, who confirmed the incident, said the victims and the suspect were drinking alcohol in the quarters and were drunk.
“Initial investigations showed that the suspect stabbed both victims after they entered his house, which is located nearby, and tried to rape his wife.
“Both victims fled the house after their attempt failed. However, the suspect chased after them as they ran back to the quarters and stabbed them,” he said.
Shamsudin said police had recovered and seized an 18-inch long knife which is believed to be used to stab the victims.
He said police detained the suspect’s wife at about 5am yesterday at the scene and were looking for her husband for investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
