KOTA KINABALU: A call was made to the City Hall to extend its public consultation on the Kota Kinabalu masterplan by a month.

Sabah Environmental Protection Association (SEPA) president Wong Tack said yesterday the request was made to provide the people with more time to study and learn about City Hall’s plans to transform the state capital into a modern entity.

“Not many people know about the three-month public consultation programme.

“I believe they should provide the people with better access to information on their plans such as advertising it or to promote it online. That would be a more proactive method,” he said.

Wong said that even the book on the masterplan is sold at RM250 each, adding, “I do not believe many could afford that.”

He added that City Hall should also provide a more specific definition on certain issues such as the recreation areas.

“Sometimes their information is not so clear … so that is why we are requesting that the consultation to be extended to at least till the end of next month to enable the people to have a fair share of information on City Hall’s plans for the state capital,” he said.
