Akjan backed by a political force, claims SAPP

KOTA KINABALU: It is very obvious that a political party is behind PEKIDA Sabah (Pertubuhan Kebajikan Dakwah) chairman, Datu Mohd Akjan Datu Ali Muhammad in objecting to the setting up of a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI), claimed Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Supreme Council member, Peter Marajin.

“Now they are making use of Akjan, who was an illegal himself and greatly benefited from this hidden agenda of tilting the Sabah population to stop the RCI,” he claimed.

“What would the so-called Sabah leaders from PBS, UPKO, PBRS and LDP have to say on this? Are they still prepared to play their ‘sandiwara’ just to perpetuate their positions in the government at the expense of Sabahans, our children and future generation?” he asked.

As far as Akjan is concerned, Peter said he should first answer why he was arrested under the ISA in 1995 for his involvement in manufacturing fake IC for foreigners before making any further denial.

Meanwhile, SAPP vice president Jaipiril Suhaimin reasoned that the call for the setting up of the RCI was made to the Federal authorities to clear doubts in the minds of Sabahans as to the unusual population increase in the number of Malaysians in Sabah.

Responding to Akjan’s statement, Japiril said when SAPP voiced its concerns and requested the Federal authorities to set up the RCI, it was to fully investigate the whole problem.

There was no discrimination of sorts, he added.

“The truth needs to be exposed. If there was a so called Identity Card (IC) syndicate, then those involved must be brought to trial and punished,” he pointed out.

Japiril said that Akjan’s claim that “the people whose citizenship was being questioned were IMM13 holders” does not hold water as this was already explained by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Nazri Abdul Aziz who had confirmed that none of the 81,000 IMM13 holders had been issued with Malaysian citizenship.

“This was stated in his answer to Datuk Eric Majimbun’s supplementary question in Parliament on 5th October 2011.

“The SAPP Youth Wing had also worked hard to get the 100,000 signatures, a campaign to support the setting up of the RCI and will do more, if necessary, until the Federal authorities acquiesce in the demands of the rakyat.

“What was the outcome of police investigation of the February 2011 Sulu sultan coronation in Likas episode?

“Have the police deliberated and fully investigated into the matter?” he asked.

One would have thought that a fully detailed explanation must be given in response to the police reports made by the various quarters including SAPP Youth, said Japiril.
