KUCHING: Kuching Division Journalists Association (KDJA) did its part in spreading Christmas cheer to the Salvation Army and Children’s Home by organising a Christmas tea party yesterday.

A total of 90 children were invited to fun and good food, as KDJA members chipped in to make the afternoon enjoyable for them.

According to its president Alice Wee, this initiative is a part of the association’s corporate social responsibility activities.

“It gives an opportunity to the exco members to work closely with staff from the Homes, and we hope such co-operation will continue,” she said.

Salvation Army superintendent Major Mary Ng said she was encouraged by the support and contribution of the association.

“Although these children came from unfortunate family backgrounds, they are very blessed to have people in society who are generous in their sharing and caring.

“We feel privileged to have the presence of reporters who have supported us very well from the start,” she said.

There were a carolling session by KDJA members, clown entertainment and games.

The children were treated to the presence of Santa Claus, who distributed Christmas gifts to them.

The committee would like to thank all members of the public and sponsors who were involved in making the event a successful one, namely Lee Miew Jin, Scoops, Dapur Malindo Cafe, Phua Chai Syn, Georgina Hiu, Fred Lee and Nature’s Farm.

KDJA is a non-profit organisation consisting of members from the local print and broadcast media. The association has 300 members to-date.
