New ECONAVI room air conditioners detect and reduce waste by optimising air conditioner operations according to room conditions

KUCHING: Electrical and electronics market leader, Panasonic Malaysia Sdn Bhd (Panasonic Malaysia) announced the introduction of 10 new air conditioner models under its ‘Econavi’ series which boast a Sunlight Detection feature.

The Sunlight Detection feature in this series could give energy savings of up to 50 per cent for Inverter models and 35 per cent for the Deluxe Non-Inverter models through the detection of changes in sunlight intensity in the room to reduce energy wasted under restrained sunlight conditions.

In addition to this, the Econavi series is also equipped with the existing intelligent and ecologically-sound feature that helps control airflow volume and room temperature by self-detecting human presence and level of activity and self-adjusts its cooling power to reduce energy wastage.

Managing director of Panasonic Malaysia, Jeff Lee commented “These new models can help consumers bring the reduction of energy consumption to a new level and further empowers individuals to save energy easily and contribute to the environment. We are confident that this eco-friendly energy saving products will significantly appeal to the consumers and this will further enhance our market leader position.”

“Consistent with our aim of creating an ‘Econation’, driving Malaysians to be eco-citizens; realising green lifestyles through Save, Create, Store and Manage Energy which are the key components of Panasonic Energy for an Econation. This is also a step towards our goal of becoming the No.1 Green Innovation Company in the electronics industry by 2018.”

Reiterating this was Harry Sasaki, marketing director of Panasonic Malaysia, “The new Econavi models have revolutionised the way we use products and save energy. With the Econavi function turned on, savings of up to 50 per cent and 35 per cent will be attained on your electricity consumption for both Inverter and Deluxe Non-Inverter models respectively and we plan to sell more than 150,000 units by 2012.”

“The entire range of Panasonic’s Econavi Inverter models (1.0HP to 2.5HP) and Deluxe Non-Inverter models (1.0HP and 1.5HP) have been awarded five-star product rating for their high energy efficient air-conditioners by the Malaysia Energy Commission, based on the results of energy performance tests by Sirim Bhd.”

Econavi room air-conditioners

The new Econavi with Sunlight Detection detects changes in sunlight intensity in the room to reduce the waste of cooling under less sunlight conditions. To illustrate, when weather changes from sunny to cloudy or night, Econavi detects less sunlight intensity and determines less cooling power is required.

If cooling power remains the same, then energy will be wasted. Econavi detects this waste and reduces cooling power by an amount equivalent to increasing the set temperature accordingly.

The revolutionary Panasonic Econavi utilises high-precision Human Sensor and Control Programme technologies to optimise air-conditioner operation according to room conditions. These technologies help detect unnecessary waste of energy.

At the same time, the air conditioner will also self-adjust the cooling capacity while maintaining uninterrupted cooling, comfort and convenience. Users can now enjoy higher energy savings of up to 35 per cent while maintaining uninterrupted cooling, comfort and convenience.

In addition to the Econavi and Intelligent Inverter features, both the Inverter and Deluxe Non-Inverter models also come with the new air purifying system called nanoe-G which utilises nano technology fine-particles consisting of ions and radicals to purify the air in the room. It works effectively on airborne and adhesive micro-organism such as bacteria, viruses and mould; ensuring a cleaner living environment.

Intelligent ‘Inverter Technology’

Panasonic’s renowned, eco-friendly Intelligent Inverter Technology has been well established as a household name when it comes to air-conditioners, thanks to the reliable and highly energy-efficient operations.

In an Inverter air-conditioner, a power conversion circuit controls the compressors’ rotating speed; hence, the air-conditioner’s output. Once the desired room temperature has been achieved, the Intelligent Inverter Technology reduces the rotation frequency of the compressor by alternating power supply frequency.

Hence, inverter air-conditioner runs on minimal power with precise temperature control. By reducing wasteful cooling operation, Inverter Series can achieve up to 50 per cent less energy usage compared to the non-inverter units.

In addition to energy savings, the Intelligent Inverter Technology also delivers constant comfort with wide power output range and quick cooling during the start-up period.

The new Intelligent Inverter models of room air-conditioners utilise the R410A refrigerant, which unlike other refrigerants used in conventional air-conditioners, minimises harm to the ozone layer.

In conjunction with the launch of Panasonic’s Econavi room air-conditioners, customers would receive a set of queen size comforter and four pieces of bed sheet with every purchase of an Econavi Inverter model air-conditioner, and a set of queen size comforter with every purchase of the Econavi Deluxe Non-Inverter model air-conditioners.
