SIBU: Three men in a Toyota Hiace van drove 10 teenagers around a residential area here for about 10 minutes after robbing them of their handphones.
The incident happened at 5pm on Saturday when the boys, aged 13 to 17 years old, gathered in front of one the victims’ house.
They were planning to play football at a nearby field when the three suspects in the van stopped in front of them.
The suspects got down from the van and one of them placed an axe against the neck of one boy to make them surrender their handphones.
Then the lads were ordered into the van.
Two of them were allegedly hit on the back with the axe’s handle though they were not seriously injured.
The robbers drove them around the housing area for 10 minutes before releasing the boys.
Acting on the victims’ report, police arrested one of the suspects, 22, at Kampung Jeriah at 8.30pm the same day.
They also confiscated four handphones from him.
Police are investigating the case.
