KOTA KINABALU: SM St Michael’s Penampang’s motto ‘ORA ET LABORA’ which means ‘Pray and Work’, seems to have been adopted by its students and teachers when the school’s 2011 PMR examination result improved by 1.85 per cent this year.

The school recorded 96.91 per cent passes compared to 95.06 per cent last year.

Its average grade is 2.11.

Six out of the nine subjects offered by the school obtained 100 per cent passes namely Bahasa Melayu, Bahasa Kadazandusun, Pendikikan Islam, Mathematics, Science and KHB-PK whereas English and History obtained 98.1 per cent and Geography 99.4 per cent. According to principal Madam Marie Yong, the success was mainly due to the hardwork and commitment of the teachers to organize extra classes and other academic activities.
