KUCHING: Sarawak property developer Chong Kia Hoi Realty Sdn Bhd (CKH Realty) has executed agreements with various prominent business groups for the sale of its 70 units’ MetroCity shops worth over RM80 million.

The signing ceremony was held at CKH Realty office yesterday with representatives from the group of purchasers which included Lao Hang Jia Group, Thai Soon Hang, Green Gallery and Golden Dragon City.

The purchasers are involved in a range of businesses including departmental stores, home decoration & furnishing, retail hardware stores, 24-hour food courts, eateries and seafood restaurants.

Last week, business owners from India Street Pedestrian Mall had also purchased 45 units of commercial shops worth over RM50 million at MetroCity – an integrated township development project located at Matang.

CKH Realty chairman and managing director Chong Kia Hoi said, “We are delighted to welcome our group of purchasers to MetroCity and have full confidence that their businesses will flourish at our new township.

“MetroCity is destined to be a landmark commercial area and has convincingly demonstrated its worth with 80 per cent of the shops sold within seven weeks of the sales launch,” he added.

He further revealed that the product had sold well due to excellent location and accessibility, modern and pro-business design that included commercial approval for all floors, a long 99-year lease tenure and extensive market catchment area.

Moving forward, MetroCity’s commercial precinct covered close to 70 acres, making it one of the largest business centres in the State.

The development comprised 314 commercial shops, an integrated bus terminal, a two-storey commercial mall, a six-storey medical centre, four-storey 120 rooms hotel, six-storey urban college, two petrol filling stations, 24-hour fast-food drive thru restaurant, three-storey showrooms and a multi-purpose sports centre.

The residential precinct of MetroCity comprised over 1,000 units of various types of homes including terrace, semi-detached, quadruplex and detached houses, apartments and high-rise condominiums. Construction for MetroCity shops will commence end of March 2012.
