BINTULU: Badminton enthusiasts in Bintulu Division are in for a special treat as a local company, Bunga Raya Bintulu Sdn Bhd, is organising a badminton tournament in March 2012.
Scheduled to be held from Thursday, 15 March to Sunday, 18 March 2012 at B&G Sport Centre, Bintulu, the tournament is organise with the objective of promoting and raising the standard of badminton in Bintulu Division.
The tournament comprise Team Event, Men’s Single and Women’s Single with the champion of the Team Event receiving RM10,000 cash prize, medals and trophies while first runner-up getting RM6,000 cash and the losing semi-finalists pocketing RM2,000 each.
In the Men’s Single, the champion will receive RM3,000 cash and medal, first runner-up RM1,500 cash and the losing semi-finalists getting RM500 cash each.
The champion of the Women’s Single category will walk home with RM2,000 cash prize while the first runner-up receiving RM1,200 cash. The losing semi-finalists will each receive RM300 cash.
Each team must register a minimum of six players and two reserves with one team manager or coach.
Registration fees for the Men’s Singles event is RM100, RM400 for the Team Event while the Women’s Singles category is RM80.
Team managers’ meeting and the draw for the tournament is scheduled to be held at Regent Hotel, Tg. Batu Bintulu on March 14, 2012 at 7.30pm. Interested participants can call on organising chairman Michael Ling at 016-8600277, Goh Teck Hen at 012-8337321 or Wong Soon Hong at 012-8765555.
Closing date for registration is February 12, 2012.
