Modest Sandakan lad gains worldwide recognition

SANDAKAN: It may not dawn on anyone that a young man with a modest personality to possess a skill recognised worldwide in the field of refrigeration and air-conditioning.
Winning the Medallion for Excellence during the World Skills Competition (WSC) 2011 in London, England, in October last year, Ng Vui Chen has made every Malaysian beamed with pride of his outstanding achievement.
“The journey to success had not come easy because it took years of hardwork, determination and commitment in order to compete against the best,” said Ng, who learned the basic skills when he attended the Institut Latihan Perindustrian (ILP) Sandakan.
Met after the appreciation ceremony to honour the participants of the WSC London 2011 and Myskills 2011, the Sandakan-born lad said he hoped to educate the young generation in refrigeration and air-conditioning.
The appreciation ceremony was officiated by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman.
Musa reiterated that the state government would always emphasise the priority to producing highly skilled and excellent human capital.
