THANK YOU: Abang Rabaee hands over a memento to a staff due to be posted to another location while Leena looks on.
SIBU: Community Development Department (Kemas) kindergartens may see more male preschool teachers in time to come.
Its state director Abang Rabaee Abang Muhi disclosed that they had received no fewer than 20 applications for the job.
“We do not set any target on the number of male teachers to be engaged but males are showing keen interest in this occupation,” Abang Rabaee told reporters after Sibu Kemas Recreation and Welfare’s annual dinner
at a leading hotel here last Saturday.
He noted that male teachers perform just as well as their female counterparts.
“There are no fewer than 20 applications from men,” he said.
He said to raise the standard of teaching, they would be sent for training during the holidays or ‘Khusus Dalam Cuti’ (KDC) to get their diplomas.
Meanwhile, he urged teachers to go to the ground to disseminate information on government policies rather than keep to their comfort zone.
“They need to feel the heartbeat of the people by going around and understanding their problems,” he said.
For that, it was crucial for teachers to ensure they were not trapped in the comfort zone.
Sibu Kemas officer for Sibu Leena Tero said the function aimed to build rapport among members to strengthen cooperation among staff.
“The function is also to welcome 19 new staff, of which seven will be for Lanang parliamentary area while the rest for Sibu,” she noted.
Among those present was Kemas Sibu parliamentary supervisor Abang Mohammad Abang Jes.
