RM1.65 million for deserving welfare voluntary organisations

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Council of Social Services (MPMS) has set aside a RM1.65 million grant this year for local welfare voluntary organisations that are non-council members.

Sabah Community Development and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Azizah Mohd Dun said, however, the grant would only be channelled to active and productive organisations.

“Only organisations that submitted an application complete with an audit report and the working paper on their programmes would be considered by the council management committee,” she stressed.

The MPMS wanted to ensure that government funds were given to deserving organisations that would benefit the target groups, she said at the presentation amounting to RM1.552 million to 17 organisations, here yesterday.

Meanwhile, at a press conference, she hoped that the 25 associations under MPMS would regularly go down to the field to identify those in need, besides promoting voluntary work to the young generation. — Bernama
