SEMPORNA: Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said support for the Barisan Nasional (BN) from the people of Sabah is solid.

In this context, he said the BN was confident it could rely on the state to be the ‘fixed deposit’ for the coalition.

“We are not being arrogant … based on feedback, including from the Chief Minister and other BN leaders, the support for BN in Sabah is good.

On the existence of new political parties including in Sabah, he said, the democratic system practised in the country allowed anyone to set up their own party as long as they fulfilled the conditions.

“We are not worried as we have gone through such process many times but thankfully, the people are still behind BN and Umno,” he said.

On speculations by certain quarters of numerous probabilities which they said might occur ahead of the general election, he said BN was not perturbed by it because “we are more focused on our struggle for the people’s well-being”.

Earlier in his speech, Muhyiddin who is also Education Minister said the ministry would study the suggestion to increase the allowance for teachers serving in the interior areas of Sabah.
