KUCHING: It proved to be a costly reflexology session for a Korean national after thieves broke into his car and stole RM30,000 in valuables early yesterday.
The victim, in his 40s, said the incident occurred around 12.15am when he was at a reflexology centre at Jalan Song and heard the alarm of his Perodua Myvi go off.
“I hurried outside to check on my vehicle and saw that the left rear passenger window had been smashed with a red brick on the ground,” he said, adding he did not see anyone in the vicinity.
According to him, a bag containing some RM23,000 worth of gold jewellery and other items, which he had placed in the rear of his car, was missing.
“The bag also contained seven Korean passports belonging to my students,” disclosed the victim, who is attached to a private university here.
Following the incident, he made his way to the Simpang Tiga police station to lodge a report, and estimated his total loss at roughly RM30,000.
In another case, thieves broke into a factory at an industrial estate on Thursday and carted away steel components and parts from the premises.
The incident was discovered around 8am when workers arrived for work and saw signs of forced entry on the front entrance.
The owner, in his 40s, lodged a police report the same day stating that the stolen items had a combined value of RM25,000.
And on Wednesday, a young airline pilot fell victim to burglars when his rented house in Stutong was broken into.
The 25-year-old arrived home around 11am and saw the front door of the house had been forcibly opened.
He lost a laptop, some foreign currency and other items worth a combined RM6,000.
