Fatimah: Funding before project implementation

DALAT: Minister of Welfare, Women and Family Development Datuk Fatimah Abdullah yesterday disclosed that the government always gave priority to availability of funds before implementing any project under the National Key Result Areas (NKRAs) to avoid delay and interruptions.

In addition to the funding, Fatimah also called on the people to understand and accept the fact that all government projects take time to materialise as planning, evaluation and costing need to be done involving many departments and people including affected landowners.

Fatimah made the remarks in her speech at a ceremony to present land compensation cheques at Dewan Masyarakat Dalat here yesterday.

The ceremony was also attended by administrative officer for Dalat district Zarni Rapaie (representing Dalat District Officer), Land and Survey Department Mukah superintendent Awang Zamhari Awang Mahmood, heads of government departments and community leaders.

The ceremony saw the Dalat assemblywoman presenting land compensation cheques totalling RM1,414,231.90 to 106 landowners whose lands measuring about 41.10358 ha were acquired by the government to implement two projects in Dalat district.

The bulk of the amount totalling RM1,371,259.85 was paid to 96 landowners in respect of land measuring about 40.93889 ha acquired for the construction of Jalan Kampung Tanam-Kampung Medong road project while  RM42,972.05 was paid to 10 landowners for land measuring about 0.16469 ha acquired for the construction of Jambatan Sungai Sudai Dalat bridge project here.

Saying that it is the caring policy of Barisan Nasional (BN) government to pay reasonable compensation on land acquired for development purposes, Fatimah called on the people to stay united behind BN to enjoy greater development and prosperity.
