DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE: Chief Inspector Daniel Dominic conducts a breathalyser test on a motorist during the roadblock.

KUCHING: Two men were nabbed for driving under the influence of alcohol during a traffic police roadblock at Jalan Tabuan early yesterday morning.

The operation, dubbed ‘Ops Mabuk’, was conducted in line with the 25th Ops Sikap led by Chief Inspector Daniel Dominic of the district traffic police.

A total of 50 summonses were issued to road users for various offences during the roadblock, which started at 12.30am and lasted for nearly two hours.

Four men were initially detained for exceeding the permissible alcohol limit during a breathalyser test and taken back to district police headquarters to undergo a second test.

Two were later released unconditionally after testing negative the second time, but the other two who tested positive were released on police bail and are scheduled to appear in court on Jan 26, where they will be charged under Section 45A(1) of the Road Transport Act.
