KOTA KINABALU: The Malaysian Red Crescent, Kota Kinabalu City Chapter, will hold a blood donation campaign in aid of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) blood bank on Jan 28.

It will be held on the first floor of City Mall shopping complex here from 9am to 4.30pm.

Announcing this was chairman of the Chapter Jeffrey Yap, in a brief statement issued here, yesterday.

“We wish to appeal to members of the public to actively come forward to participate in this benevolent, life-saving deed.

“This is especially important as the blood supply at the QEH blood bank is currently at a critical stage and in urgent need of replenishment,” he appealed.

This is especially true in view of an increase in the number of road accidents during the recent Chinese New Year holidays.

Jeffrey acknowledged that a constant and sufficient blood supply at the Blood Bank is extremely crucial towards lifesaving operations, especially in an emergency situation.

The ‘O’ and ‘A’ blood types are especially in shortage as compared to other blood types.
