Ahmat Mustapha passes on after short illness

LAWAS: Inspector Ahmat Mustapha of Lawas police passed away peacefully at his home in Banting Residential Area in Lawas on Friday night after a short illness.

Among those who paid their last respects to him and offered Yassin prayers yesterday were Second Minister Resource Planning and Environment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan, who is also Malaysia Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF) Sarawak chairman.

Also present were Tengah’s wife Datuk Dayang Morliah Datuk Awang Daud, Lawas MP Datuk Henry Sum Agong, Lawas District Officer Mohd Supaih Hamdan and community leaders.

Ahmat was respected by the community as one who practised jurisprudence and was down-to-earth.

He left behind a widow and three children. His family members from Kelantan arrived in Lawas later in the day for his funeral. Ahmat’s untimely passing was a loss to the police force, friends from the media and local community.
