KUCHING: Electrical and electronics products market leader, Panasonic Malaysia Sdn Bhd (Panasonic Malaysia) is launching a full range of Evolta rechargeable batteries that are available in AA and AAA.
These batteries can be recharged up to 1,600 times. They are also equipped with charger kits for both battery sizes offering charging time from two, eight to 10 hours of charging. The new lineup is geared to take the lead in the market of long-lasting rechargeable batteries that are suitable for a wide variety of equipments and gadgets.
“Rechargeable battery is an ideal product to preserve the environment and in line with Panasonic’s Eco Ideas philosophy,” said Jeff Lee, managing director of Panasonic Malaysia.
“In Malaysia, our total market share for both manganese, alkaline and rechargeable batteries is hovering at 30 per cent. With this launch we hope to achieve a growth of 20 per cent annually,” Lee added.
The Evolta rechargeable batteries and charger kit was Panasonic’s response to the evolution in battery-powered products as well as consumer demand. By continuously bringing these eco-conscious products to the market, the company attempts to ease the lifestyles of people around the globe.
“The current market demand skews towards long lifespan batteries. Nevertheless, quite a lot of consumers still rely on the alkaline batteries for power,” Lee stressed.
Evolta rechargeable batteries were proven to surpass the exacting demand of long lasting battery power as demonstrated in the recent Panasonic’s ‘Evolta’ run, swim and bike robots, during a news conference in Tokyo on September last year.
“These three types of ‘Evolta’ robots, powered by three AA-size rechargeable Evolta batteries had challenged and completed an Ironman triathlon course in Hawaii, a total of about 230 kilometres, within one week or 168 hours from October 24, 2011. This challenge has significantly proved the long lasting lifespan of Evolta rechargeable batteries,” Lee added.
The name ‘Evolta’ being derived from the words ‘evolution’ and ‘voltage’, suggested that these batteries represented the growth and power of Panasonic’s technology in battery structure, materials and manufacturing process.
