KUCHING: Sarawak Automotive Racing Sports Association (Sarsa) will work together with the police to eradicate illegal racing.
This pledge was made by Sarsa after a courtesy call by six exco members led by president Sim Hang Seng on the Sarawak Commissioner of Police, DCP Datuk Acryl Sani Acryl Abdullah recently.
During their meeting, among matters discussed was the rampant illegal racing said to be taking place around the compounds of Bangunan Baitulmakmur (previously Masja) and Jalan Bako.
Although records show that illegal races here are not as serious as in other states, both Sarsa and police agreed that this unhealthy activity and social ill need to be constantly controlled and monitored.
Acryl Sani also called on Sarsa to organise regulated races whereby the competitions are held in safe and healthy manner.
On another matter, Sarsa announced that Sarawak Drag Race 2012 will be held three times this year. Forms will be issued next month. For more information, contact the race secretary Fadillah Sulaiman at 014-8777260.
