18 to vie for Miss Cheongsam Malaysia 2012 title on Feb 4

KUCHING: Eighteen finalists from all over Malaysia will vie for the title of Miss Cheongsam Malaysia 2012 on Feb 4 at Riverside Majestic Hotel.

The winner of Miss Cheongsam Malaysia 2012 will receive a cash prize of RM6,000 while the first runner-up will receive a cash prize of RM3,000.

The second runner-up will receive a cash prize of RM2,000, the third runner-up will
receive a cash prize of RM1,000 and the fourth runner-up
will receive a cash prize of RM800.

There are also five subsidiary titles to be awarded during the competition which includes Best Cheongsam Design, Miss Talent, Miss Personality, Miss Photogenic and Miss Friendship and the winner will take home a cash prize of RM500.

“During their stay in Kuching, the girls will be visiting places such as the Sarawak Cultural Village and Damai Beach,” said organiser and pageant founder Allaric Soh yesterday.

He also said that Miss Cheongsam Malaysia 2012 is organised for the 22nd consecutive year since 1991 as a community and charitable
event by promoting the profoundness of the Chinese culture, fostering friendship within the Chinese community and also to celebrate the Chinese New Year.

Currently, RM50,000 has been donated by Naim Holdings Bhd (Naim) which will be channelled to the board of management of Kuching Chung Hua Middle Schools No.1, 3 and 4.

The finals on Feb 4 is expected to see Deputy Works Minister Datuk Yong Khoon Seng, who is also Stampin MP as the guest-of-honour.

The main sponsor for Miss Cheongsam Malaysia 2012 is Riverside Majestic Hotel.

The Borneo Post, See Hua Daily News and Utusan Borneo are the official papers for the beauty pageant.

Among the 18 are four Sarawakian lass made up of Carron Kho Siew Ching, 20, Winnie Chong, 21, Evon Thian Kah Poh, 20 and Charley Pan Ling Feng, 21.

Coming from Perak are Yumiko Lau Wai Yee, 18 and Ariessa Lam Yin Yee, 21.

Representing Johor will be Amber Yap Hui Xin, 20, Albee Ng Hui Ching, 23 and Sherry Wong Siek Lee, 23.

From Kuala Lumpur are Coco Leong Huey Yng, 22, Evelyn Tay Suet Mei, 20 and Eva Lim Sheau Lee, 23.

Pulau Pinang will be represented by Stephy Lee Bee Yin, 25, Joanne Soo Siao Wei, 25 and Melinda Lee Chan Ling, 20.

Representating Selangor will be Rachel Goh Yee Ching, 22 and Janet Khoo Tze Ee, 20, and the sole representative for Kedah is Llis Wong, 20.
