Two mobile phone shop operators detained for having porno video clips

Posted on February 2, 2012, Thursday

KUANTAN: The Home Affairs Ministry’s Film Censorship Control and Enforcement Division here on Tuesday detained two mobile phone shop operators and seized computers as well as a hard disk drive (HDD) containing more than 1,300 pornographic video clips from them.

State branch chief Mohd Naim Hashim said a man and a woman in their 20s were detained during an inspection at a shopping centre at 3.15pm.

“Three of the outlets were found to offer pornographic video clip downloads as a package to consumers who bought mobile phones or had their sets repaired at their premises,” he told reporters here yesterday. — Bernama

According to him, the video clips were believed to have been downloaded from the internet.

He warned that downloading and keeping pornographic video clips was an offence punishable under Section 5 of the Film Censorship Act 2002, which carries a maximum RM50,000 fine or five years’ jail upon conviction. — Bernama
