MIRI: Local football teams are invited to take part in Petronas Football League, City Cup and Fatimah Bersatu Sdn Bhd (FBSB) Challenge Trophy which will be held on March 3.
“This year’s tournament is unique because we are allowing every team to register three import players, if the team can afford to do so,” informed organising spokesman Mohd Saif Jubaidi,
“Participation is open to all local football team and is limited to ten teams on first come first serve basis. Interested teams must be registered with the Registrar of Association (ROS) and must be financially stable,”
“Most importantly, the team must have a team manager, Pre C or C licensed coach and players who are registered with Miri Football Association (MirFA),” he added.
Saif disclosed that MirFA will allow teams to sign players from other divisions as long as the player is not registered to play in the other division’s league.
Meanwhile, the Charity Shield Match (Piala Sumbangsih) between FBSB (Petronas League champion) and Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) is scheduled to take place at Miri Stadium on March 3. On another issue, Saif stressed that any party who wish to organize football or futsal tournaments in Miri must first register themselves with MirFA.
“All registered and qualified referees are under the supervision of MirFA and Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) as the usage of unlicensed referees is an offence. Tournament organisers can obtain the services of referees from MirFA or FAS to ensure that matches are professionally umpired,” said Saif.
