SRI AMAN: Unsuccessful applicants of the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) must forward their appeals before Feb 10.
In giving this reminder, Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Deputy Minister Datuk Rohani Abdul Karim said appeal forms could be obtained from the nearest Inland Revenue Board office.
“The government is providing chance for those who failed to appeal, and those yet to apply for BR1M can still do so. The extended deadline for submission is Feb 10,” she said.
The Batang Lupar MP said this at the handing-over of compensation for land acquisition at Sri Aman Civic Centre here yesterday, which was organised by Sri Aman Land and Survey Department.
According to her, 70 per cent of unsuccessful applicants had already appealed.
On the compensation, Rohani explained that the government had no intention to grab lands from the people, and that the lands acquired were for development purposes.
“It is for development, for instance for the building of schools, roads and other needs so that people will benefit further,” she said.
“All compensations are made according to current market price and claims that the government is stealing land are not true. It is for the benefit of the people themselves,” she added.
At the event, Rohani presented compensations worth RM370,912.86 to 140 landowners whose lands were acquired for the development of Stumbin new link road, Sri Aman, Sembau/Stumbin/Lingga road, upgrading of Stumbin/Tanjung Bihat/Stirau road, Kampung Sapak preschool project in Pantu and Maludam National Park in Betong.
