Elderly man’s body found by neighbour

SARIKEI: The body of an elderly man, who lived alone in a house at Jalan Bangunan Kerajaan, was found by his neighbour on Friday afternoon.
The neighbour, who declined to be named, said she had gone to the house to check on him.
“As he did not respond when I knocked several times on the door around 4.30pm, I suspected something amiss and decided to enter to check.
“Moreover the front door of the house was not locked,” the neighbour said.
She found the body in the toilet and immediately called for an ambulance.
Paramedics, who arrived shortly after, pronounced the man dead.
The neighbour then contacted the police.
The man’s body was later taken to the Sarikei Hospital for a post-mortem.
