MIRI: The People here and its surrounding will benefit from the collaboration between Asia e-University (AeU) and Fajar International College with the appointment of Fajar as AeU’s  appointed local learning centre in this part of the world.

Political secretary to Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water Datuk Sebastian Ting disclosed that Miri is now able to offer yet another quality and affordable higher education opportunity to locals including those in the region.

He said this at the launching of the programme yesterday.

Ting said this augurs well with the aspiration of Miri to become an education hub or destination in the region with the setting up of various institutions of higher learning such as Sarawak Curtin and technical and skill learning institutions here.

“Therefore, it is important for the people especially students to grab the opportunity as they are not only affordable but also at their own doorstep. They should not doubt the quality and standard of the courses offered as both institutions are well established and renowned in this region,” he said.

The launching marks another success story of Fajar International College. Ting is confident that with their years of experience in providing quality and affordable higher education, Fajar would be able to give their best in and through this smart partnership.

Meanwhile, chief executive officer of Fajar Dr Peter Tham disclosed that AeU is a new and innovative university, set up by 31 Asian countries, which are members of Asian Corporative Dialogue (ACD). Malaysia is proud that the country has been entrusted by Asian Corporative Dialogue to be the prime mover of this project, as it does not compromise the quality of higher education.

On Fajar’s part, the college has gained recognition in ACD member countries like Singapore and South Korea.

Tham said since inception some 12 years ago, providing quality and affordable education has always been Fajar’s core value or mission. With the partnership, Tham added, this mission will be enhanced a step further as AeU’s programmes are all of high quality and have gained international recognition. At the same time, the cost is set at an affordable level for every aspiring learner to take up.
