Solutions lie with public, grassroots members — Sih

KUCHING: SUPP Batu Lintang branch chairman Sih Hua Tong said the answers to the party’s problems were actually in the hands of the public and grassroots members.
“The public and grassroots members know better the problems that need to be addressed because their problems would eventually translate into political problems.
“So, if we want to find answers to the problems besieging us, we have to listen to the grassroots members and the people.”
Sih said this yesterday when asked to comment on Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud’s remarks made last Saturday during Kuching South City Council’s (MBKS) Chinese New Year open house that he was no longer an expert on SUPP.
Sih, who is also SUPP assistant publicity and information secretary, said he believed nobody could claim he or she was an expert on SUPP, not even party members who had been around for decades.
He added that the chief minister probably had taken into consideration the spirit of the Barisan Nasional (BN) when he decided to stay clear of problems in SUPP and SPDP.
“No matter who the leader is, I think this is the spirit of BN partnership.
“We have to respect other component parties. Neither will SUPP interfere in any other component parties’ affairs.”
