KUCHING: Founder of Natural Health Farm, Jessie Chung, shooting her first movie this year has decided to call it ‘Princess Kebaya’.

The movie aims to promote the ‘kebaya’ and the 1Malaysia environment to the international market, said Brian Choot, managing director of Symphony Musical House (artists management company).

The movie, a love story and comedy, will use a multi-racial cast and portray the Malaysian culture, Brian told The Borneo Post yesterday.

He said Jessie’s initial plan was to release a movie based on her books ‘Jessie Diary 1, 2, 3 and 4’ that feature her life story and the challenges she faced in life as a transsexual.

The movie touches on a sensitive subject (sex change), Chung decided to change its theme.  ‘Princess Kebaya’ will be a love story focusing on the challenges she faced in the business world.

“The story is about a successful designer working in France. She has to return to Malaysia to help her family business (clothing manufacturer).

“The business has been affected by rigorous competition (price wars) and dirty business tactics from competitors. She was able to triumph over her main competitor that resorted to several devious business ploys.

“In her love life, she was torn between two gentlemen: her boyfriend in France or a business undercover sent by her competitor. In the midst of difficulties and extreme pressures, she lost a very dear family member.

“This episode added to her stress,” said Choot.

Along the way, many incidents happen: humour, suspense, heart-warming moments and romance.

Jessie planned to revamp her business strategy and focus on the kebaya line of couture. She designed her own modern kebaya and featured her brand in the international fashion show. Eventually, she managed to revive her family business.

She finally chose one of the suitors.

The shooting for her first movie to start in October this year will be released in time for Chinese New Year in 2013.

Chung made headlines six years ago when she married Joshua Beh as she is a transsexual who had undergone several major operations.

Recently, she launched her first English song album ‘I Just Fall in Love Again’ and her latest book ‘Jessie Diary 4’, and celebrated her sixth wedding anniversary with hubby Joshua Beh.

She released her first Chinese New Year song album, an adapted version of which is uploaded on YouTube two months ago caused a cyber war between her supporters and non-supporters.

“I felt down when I read all the nasty comments and criticism but now I have become numb,” she told the press.

But she considered the negative comments on YouTube a blessing in disguise as the publicity helped promote her album with sales hitting more than 10,000 copies.

She posted a letter on YouTube to say the production was dedicated to her parents and friends. It was in aid of charity and to promote wushu as a martial art.

She hopes to produce a better album next year.
