Govt delivers 78.5 of projects promised during walkabouts in Sarawak

KUCHING: A total of 245 or 78.5 per cent of 312 projects costing RM213.7 million announced during the walkabouts by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his deputy, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin before the Sarawak state election last year have been completed.

Forty or 12.82 per cent of projects costing RM1.312 billion are being implemented while 27 or 8.65 per cent of projects costing RM709.66 million had yet to get off the ground, said Natural Resources and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Douglas Uggah in a statement after visiting three projects in the Miri division today.

The recently completed projects are a fire lookout tower in the Senadin swamp forest in Kuala Baram, the Kampung Tanjung Batu mini project, Miri Bypass, and the Taman Tunku reservoir in Miri.

Uggah thanked the state government, ministries, agencies and elected representatives for the successful completion of the projects as well as residents for their patience during the implementation. – Bernama
