END OF THE ROAD: Patrol officers checking the stalled Kancil following the pursuit.

KUCHING: They would not stop for a routine traffic police check so were pursed by the cops early yesterday.

Consequently, a man and a woman were detained while the third person escaped.

The incident happened around 1.30am when a police patrol vehicle signalled for a Perodua Kancil to pull over to the side of Jalan Batu Kawah.

But the Kancil sped off and led police on a chase which ended at Jalan Stapok where the driver struck a concrete drain barrier, causing the car to stall.

The driver and another man seated in front bolted away on foot, leaving a woman in her 20s alone in the back seat.

Patrolmen pursued the two men and nabbed the driver, also in his 20s, but lost sight of the second man.

A check of the vehicle did not produce anything suspicious.

Both the driver and woman were brought to the police station and detained for questioning.

In an unrelated case, a family from Kampung Panglima Seman was forced to flee after a group of men led by their relative descended on their house.

The incident occurred around 8pm when up to 10 men, some armed with sharp weapons, stormed the house following a disagreement between the house owner’s wife and a female relative.

The female relative was said to have complained to her elder brother, who took matters into his own hands by bringing along
his friends who smashed the windows and damaged the family’s car.

Fearing for his safety, the house owner fled with his wife and two young children to his brother’s house in Demak Laut before lodging a report at the police station.
