THE COLOUR OF ENVY?: A police officer examines the cars sprayed with green paint on Valentine’s Day.

SIBU: A young man, whose girlfriend of seven months had broken off with him, took out his anger on two cars on Valentine’s Day.

He sprayed with green paint the vehicles belonging to the family of his girlfriend, who dropped the bombshell on the eve of Valentine’s Day.

Both are 20 and have dreams which would take them in different directions.

The disc jock at a restaurant had wanted to take her with him to Singapore where he would work, while the girl was waiting for the STPM results and hoping to enter a local university.

The two had been together for seven months, and the girl decided they should go their separate ways before they got deeper in the relationship.

The unhappy young man climbed into the girl’s house at Alan Road to spray her family’s two cars with green paint at 2am yesterday.

He then sent an SMS to the girl, saying he had sent her a Valentine’s gift which she would find in her house.

The girl and her family awoke at daybreak to find their cars vandalised.

She called her ex and her family members called the police.

The man initially denied being the culprit, but police found in his car his jacket smeared with green paint that matched that sprayed on the two cars.

They took him in for investigation.
