Kuching archers lead the pack at age meet

KUCHING: The Sarawak Schools Sports Council (MSSS) Inter-division Archery Tournament which started yesterday at SMK Tabuan Jaya sports school saw 30 schools statewide competing for top honours in the various age groups.

During the first day of the tournament yesterday, Wan Faris Zain Wan Ahmad of Kuching currently leads the Boys U18 age category with 251 points. Ezri Mukhriz Suhardi, also of Kuching is in second place with 219 while Miri’s Elijah Parril occupies the third place with 215 points.

Tournament favourites in the Boys U15 category Ericsson Mahesh Rakesh from Miri had to settle for second place so far when his 271 lead was taken over by Kuching representative Antonio Joseph Dreba who accumulated 281 points.

Antonio’s Kuching teamate Mohd. Haziq Halim was at third place with 265 points.

In the Girls U18 category, Cheryl Rudang Goh Pei Lok of Miri currently occupies first place after amassing 237 points with Kuching’s Fazira Desa in second with 233 points followed by Shirley Hassan also of Kuching with 230.

Kuching dominated the top two spots in the Girls U15 category with Wan Farah Aina Ahmadi collecting 225 points in the leaderboard ahead of Karina Ignasia Norman with 223 points and Susie Yek of Sarikei at third place with 215.

In the primary school category, Kuching’s Abang Haikal Najmie Iskandar currently top the Boys U12 with 299 points followed by teammate Justin Siaw How Ping on 246 while Limbang’s Nickolas Darren Uchong in third on 239 points.

Kuching archers dominated the Girls U12 category with Fatin Farhana Mohammad ahead with 135 points followed by Athirah Hana Kamarulzaman on 51 and Ummi Nurashira with 48 points.

The competition enters its second day today.
