KPIs for all state BN liaison committees

KUANTAN: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has given Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets to all state Barisan Nasional (BN) liaison committees ahead of the next general election (GE).

The deputy prime minsiter said state BN chiefs had been tasked the responsibility to meet the targets.

“Our hope is that with the KPIs, the BN leadership at the state and divisional levels will be focused on achieving the targets or do better,” he told reporters after holding a closed-door meeting with Pahang Umno leaders here yesterday.

Muhyiddin said the KPI approach was seen as more effective in producing results as had been the case with the government’s transformation programmes.

He said the KPIs might differ for each state but what was important was that the targets be realised.

He said the trend now showed the BN leadership gaining greater support from the people and that this was due to the government’s transformation programmes and initiatives like the 1Malaysia People’s Aid Programme (BR1M).

“Focus on party matters, the leadership at the divisional level needs to be further strengthened. If there are issues or problems, these must be quickly resolved because based on the trend in the last general election, even if the trend is positive, when issues crop up at the divisional level, we (BN) can lose.

“As such, the leaders must focus as much as possible to their areas whether they are parliamentary or state constituencies,” said Muhyiddin, adding that the state liaison committees must also focus on the existing potential to wrest back seats that were lost to the opposition in the last GE. — Bernama
