BioCarnival, exhibition at BioBorneo 2012

KUCHING: Members of the public and school students are invited to BioCarnival that will be held from 10am to 5pm on Feb 24, 25 and 26 on Upper Ground Level of Hills Shopping Mall here.

Targeted at all levels of society, BioCarnival will feature activities for the whole family, which include a BioFashion exhibition, biotechnology laboratory demonstrations, colouring competitions and a treasure hunt.

Organised in conjunction with BioBorneo 2012, BioCarnival is an awareness programme for the public to find out about the possibilities that biotechnology has in store to feed, fuel and heal the world in the 21st century.

BioBorneo is a new and exciting event that caters to all levels of society on biotechnology and harnesses Borneo’s biodiversity through research and development.

Held for the first time in Sarawak, it is jointly organised by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, Sarawak Biodiversity Centre, Biotechnology Corporation of Malaysia (Biotech Corp) Malaysia Genome Institute (MGI) and the Malaysian Biotechnology Information Centre (Mabic).

Themed ‘Accelerating Innovation of the Borneo Bio-economy’, BioBorneo 2012 will be held at Pullman Hotel and the Hills Shopping Mall and will also comprise of a seminar and mini symposium and Industrial Exhibition and Business Matching sessions, besides the MyBio@School and BioCarnival programmes.

Members of the public are also invited to view the industrial exhibition held from Feb 24-26 on the first floor foyer of Pullman Hotel.

The exhibition will feature work and bio-products from industries, departments, entrepreneurs and institutions of higher learning. Entrance to the exhibition is free, and the exhibition will be from 9am to 5pm on all three days.
