Businessman remanded to assist false claim probe

SIBU: The Magistrate’s Court yesterday ordered a 30-year-old businessman from Sarikei to be remanded for four days to facilitate investigation into an alleged false claim on subsidised fuel supply to points-of-sale.
Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Sibu principal assistant director Roslan Ramli said the man was arrested in Selangau at 5pm on Feb 20.
He is being investigated under Section 18 of the Anti-Corruption Act 2009 which carries a maximum 20 years’ jail and fine that is five times the bribe or RM10,000, whichever is higher.
