Cashier charged with RM46,000 CBT

KUALA LUMPUR: A Mydin Mohamad Holding Berhad Company head cashier pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday to criminal breach of trust involving about RM46,000, last Thursday.

Rohaiza Tan, 30, was alleged to have committed the offence involving RM46,162.50 at Level 6, Mydin Jalan Masjid India here at 9am on Feb 16, this year.

She faces a maximum 14 years’ jail and is liable to whipping or fine on each charge if convicted, under Section 408 of the Penal Code. Rohaiza was also charged with giving false statement to police at the Dang Wangi police headquarters here at 1.35pm on the same day.

The accused was charged under Section 181 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum three years’ jail or fine.

Deputy public prosecutor N Jayanthi urged the court to impose a RM15,000 bail in one surety. However, counsel Wan Azmir Wan Majid mitigated for a lower sum as the accused had parents to support.

Magistrate Nur Azura Murah granted Rohaiza bail of RM7,000 in one surety and fixed March 20 for mention.

Meanwhile, in the same court, a senior citizen pleaded not guilty to a charge of outraging the modesty of a teenage girl last Saturday.

Mat Amin Mokhtar, 61, was charged with outraging the modesty of the 17-year-old at Gerai Minum Kasturi Walk, Jalan Hang Kasturi, Central Market here at 1.35pm on Feb 18, this year.

Jayanthi urged the court to impose bail at RM7,000 in one surety. However, the accused said he did not have a bailor.

Nur Azura fixed March 9 for mention. — Bernama
