S’wak team out of match-fixing probe, says Ahmad Shabery
KUCHING: Sarawak footballers has been cleared of the match-fixing menace which hit the Malaysian football scene recently.
Speaking to The Borneo Post, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek confirmed that Sarawak is not one of the three teams currently under investigation by Football Association of Malaysia (FAM)
for match-fixing activities as reported by a foreign media recently.
“Sarawak is clean. I admire their integrity and I hope they will never fall victim to bribery,” he added.
“Sarawak is a good team and I’m glad they are in the Super League now. They have a very good blend of youth and experience which will take the team far.
“I have always admire the fighting of the Sarawak team. They always have a ‘never say die’ attitude.
“Sarawak players are loyal and committed to the state. I am very confident that none of Sarawak’s players are involved in match-fixing activities and assured the state is not one of the three teams investigated by FAM,” informed Sharbery.
Sarawak has never encountered any problem with regards to match-fixing.
“I’m 100 per cent confident it never involved any Sarawak players,” he added.
