KUCHING: Youth development should be synergised with the involvement of all the relevant ministries to ensure its effectiveness.
According to Minister of Youth and Sports Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek yesterday, all ministries had to work together to develop the youths so that they could succeed even to the highest level, “because through sports, for example, we can enhance unity and leadership skill which is a part of the youth development”.
“However, the bigger development that we need to think about is how we can relate youth development efforts with other ministries. The youth development concept is very wide and it needs to be coordinated with other ministries,” he said.
Shabery said that among efforts to promote youth development was the implementation of Youth Parliament which would have its mock run in April, adding that the roadmap for Youth Parliament would be implemented by end of this year.
“For this (mock run), we will choose a representative from every parliamentary constituency for the first dry run in April and we also need to fine tune things like standing orders and parliamentary committee,” he said.
Ahmad Shabery added that the setting up of Youth Parliament was to enable youths to have a better understanding of the parliamentary system of government.
