Applicant denied IC due to different look

Posted on February 23, 2012, Thursday

TAWAU: The National Registration Department here has refused to issue an identity card to a 27-year-old applicant as the photo of the document does not look like him.

Lasidi Bin Lambai¡¯s family has sought help from Tawau Parti Gerakan Compliant Bureau chief James Leong.

Lasidi first applied for the identity card 13 years ago and he was told to get it at the Semporna National Registration Department.

When the time of collection came, the department found the photo on the identity card did not match with the applicant and it refused to issue the document to him until today.

Lasidi then lodged a police report as he suspected somebody had misused his identity card.

His family explained his predicament to James at his office at Takada here yesterday. Lasidi was not present.

After checking the documents presented by Lasidi’s family, James found that Lasidi¡¯s birth certificate is a photostated copy and the original has been missing.

James advised him to re-apply for the birth certificate before following up the matter.
